Introduction

These five lesson plans are designated for kindergarten students and they focus on the Mercedes Livestock Show and Rodeo. The overall purpose of these lesson plans is to help students become more aware of what the community does for its residents and the history behind it. We want students to be able to feel connected with their community and be able to apply the knowledge acquired from the lesson plans to their everyday life as well. We wanted to incorporate the Mercedes Livestock Show and Rodeo into the lesson because we want the students to be able to relate to something they already know while at the same time learning something new. Throughout these lessons, students will be able to have fun with various activities while learning what goes on during the show and rodeo along with its history.
